Default Hotmail & Outlook Express problem....again ?

What does this error msg mean? I have been using
Outlook Express for my hotmail
for year and am Grandfathered in so I don't have
to pay. I periodically have this
problem. Usually I just delete the account and
then re-build it and everything
works fine.......for awhile. I would like to find
out why this happens and what I can
do to make it quit happening.

Error: Unable to poll for new messages on your
HTTP server. Account: 'Catlovr',
Server:
Protocol: HTTPMail,
Server Response: 'Authorization Required', Port:
0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number:
0x800CCC32

Thanks in advance for the help.

The connection between Outlook Express and the HTTP servers has never been
great. Every once in a while problems like this clear up. Apparently MS
does something with the servers and the problem clears up in a few hours or
as much as a couple weeks. There is generally no need to delete and
re-enter the account. Try again later or, if you aren't patient enough, use
IE.

Default Hotmail & Outlook Express problem....again ?

I'm sorry to bother you again, but I'm not getting
much help from
Microsoft. Just canned letters that don't address
the problem.
I've done some quick checks with my ISP (Road
Runner) and it
shows that they have been able to "connect" to
hotmail both
inbound and outbound. I keep getting the same
error msg.
What do them mean "Authorization Required" ? Is
that from
Microsoft or from my ISP ?
Oh, Hotmail was down for awhile today too, they
said it was
too many people or something like that.
Thanks !
Bubey

I really don't know what they mean by that. I have never understood
Hotamail or the WebDAV extensions they use.

1. CrystalBall© tells me that you're running IE7, so close OE and install
this patch:

Authentication fails when you use Outlook or Outlook Express to try to log
on to a HTTP-based mail server if you use Internet Explorer version 7.0:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/904942

2. MSN/Hotmail servers have been acting up all week. See

Default Hotmail & Outlook Express problem....again ?

Thanks PA Bear, but how could I be running IE7 if
I didn't
install it. and when I click on the IE Help it
says IE 6?
I went in to explorer and checked the dates for
the IE
program files, nothing there for recent dates.

Would it be okay to use this patch even though I
don't
seem to have IE7?

I think he was probably just assuming you got IE7
from a windows update. I doubt very much that
you'd want the patch.

Thanks PA Bear, but how could I be running IE7 if

turned on, I use custom. When I click on the IE
