Default 501 Error Message

Hi Steve,
Oh my goodness, Mike N and you fixed my problem, it works!!!!!
Sorry for late reply, had son & Grands over and cleaning after and could
only come this evening. I was waiting for a notification that you replied
and it never came since late Sunday evening when I finally was free to read
my e-mails, but this evening I went to check, just in case the replies
weren't e-mailed, and behold, my PC is fixed. Many, many thanks Steve. I
truly appreciate your help. Hoping not to write here again, have a BLESSED
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR!

Thankfully yours,
Bebb

I found this while searching for an answer to this problem. I was
experiencing the 501 error also.

Go into Iternet OptionsSecurity tab and click the Custom Level
button.
Under miscellaneous there is a heading "Navigate sub frames accross
different domains". This has to be set as "Enable". Change it for
the
Internet and Trusted sites. Now you can format fonts.

Hi Bebb,

I don't have a clue at the moment. Its hard to reproduce it, so I'm not
sure what to suggest.

I'll reply to this thread if I can find a solution.

cheers,

steve

Hi Steve,
In case you didn't get my first query, I un-installed IE7.
That's what I was saying in my last reply, when I click the Toolbar's
Format
and click on the Font, I still have the 501 error message. And yes the
Font
and Colors box is seen behing that error message box. Also, the Fonts
list,
the Size and 16 custom color boxes are available when I write an e-mail.
I
hope you can help me fix this much needed problem.
Thanks again,
Bebb

I'm not sure what is causing that error. Someone else is having it
without
IE7 installed, so it may be unrelated.

Can you format the font using the format toolbar in the message window
instead of using Format | Font? When you get the error, are the font
names
loaded in the dialog box behind the error window?

Hi again Steve,
I just re-checked the IE and OE default and they stayed as I changed
them
in
the Microsoft, but in the Custom they do not stay in IE and OE
default,
after
I click OK the change scan takes place but when I go check that
Custom,
the
IE and OE check I made are returned to the other "default settings".
I
don't
know if this will help you. Thanks again.

Go to Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs | Set Program Access and
Defaults and set IE and OE default and see if that fixes it.

In an auto Windows Updates IE 7 was installed, not good,
un-installed
IE
7,
now in my OE when I want to change the color of the fonts when I
write
an
e-mail and right click and Fonts I get this message: "An error
occured
in
this dialog. Error 501
Permission denied."
I just installed the new Windows Auto Updates, minus IE 7 and I
still
get
this 501 error.
What can I do to fix this problem. Thank you for your time.
