Hi,
Is there a way to get OE to stop expanding folders if they contain messages that are marked as read by rules? I've got the expand folders with unread messages option on. I've also got some rules that sort certain messages into some folders and mark them as read, but OE still expands those folders. The reason I mark them as read is because I don't want to deal with them, I just want them archived away, so having the folder expand defeats the purpose a bit. There doesn't seem to be a way to mark messages before moving them, so that won't work. I've tried marking it as ignored as well but that doesn't help. Any ideas? Thanks. -- Alec S. news/alec-synetech/cjb/net |

I don't believe you can do this. AFAIK, the Automatically expand folders
option beats out the Mark As Read rule. All I can suggest is either to uncheck Automatically Expand, or move the folders in question so they are not subfolders. This would take up more room in the Folder Tree, of course. You could rename them so they are all the last folders in the tree, besides newsgroups, by putting Z1- before the current name of one folder, then Z2- before the next, etc. You could also drag user created folders that are not diverted to other folders to save space. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Alec S." @ wrote in message ...
