That looks like an error you would get if you were using multiple Hotmail
addresses or if the server has a problem identifying you. Are you attempting to download for more than one Hotmail account? -- Jim Pickering, MVP/Windows Mail applications Please reply ONLY to newsgroup. "Warren Schmid" wrote in message ... Thanks, your fix got rid of the error but now I get a new error as follows: Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. I do not know if either caused the problem, but they both occured at the same time OE quit working. I tried Knowledge Base, but could not fine the identical error number. Did try a fix wher the error text was the same......but it had no effrect. |

No, I have only one hotmail account. The multiple requests for username and
password came back as well. I'd guess it is still having a problem authenicating. I still can get into hotmail by going directly to hotmail, just not thru OE. -- Warren "Jim Pickering" wrote: That looks like an error you would get if you were using multiple Hotmail addresses or if the server has a problem identifying you. I switched some time ago to using Windows Live Mail for access to Hotmail
because of continuing problems with Outlook Express access. I've heard that the access via Outlook Express will soon be gone for all users since it depends on the WebDAV protocol which has some inherent security problems, but I've not seen anything official that confirms it. But you might want to try Live Mail. Visit www.live.com for info. -- Jim Pickering, MVP/Windows Mail applications Please reply ONLY to newsgroup. Thanks, I opted in to Live Mail. My initial pass thru it says "nice".....but
it alone doesn't do what I need. I use the OE address book extensively. I have considerable info in it beyond just email addresses. I send out newsletters to a couple of groups (close to 100 addresses in each group), the addresses and groups are easy to maintain inside OE. I also include photos imbedded in the newsletters. Often my emails are lengthy, taking some time to compose, which I do offline (I am mobile 100% of the time and getting online for lenthy periods is not always available). OE allowed me to do all these things handily and OFFLINE. I didn't see these abilities inside Live Mail. Any recommendation for a tool that will allow me to do these things, and that will work with IE 7. I see Firefox mentioned a lot, will it work? By the way, I really like the enhancements that IE 7 has, but I must say that in purusing the newsgroup I see that it seems to have caused a great number of problems. I appreciate your taking the time to help me. -- Warren "Jim Pickering" wrote: I switched some time ago to using Windows Live Mail for access to Hotmail because of continuing problems with Outlook Express access. Might want to look at Thunderbird or Pegasus and see if they appeal. You
should be able to import your contacts into either of those programs w/o difficulty. Good luck. -- Jim Pickering, MVP/Windows Mail applications "Warren Schmid" wrote in message ...
