I am unable to receive an e-mail sent from hotmail or send an e-mail to a
hotmail account. the sent e-mails get lost in the system, the addressee does
not receive the mail and I do not get an error message back.

I am running MacAfee security on the PC. Any ideas?

Check to see if Wanadoo is blocking Hotmail because of spam.

If neither sender is getting an error message, the e-mails are likely
get trapped by spam filters.

The Hotmail recipient will need to check their Junk folder for mails
from you.

For messages that you should be receiving, check with your ISP to see if
they are doing any spam filtering. If they offer a web mail interface
check that for a spam/junk/trash/bulk folder to see if the messages from
Hotmail are ending up there.

Or if you are running any anti-spam software check that.

As for in OE, there are 2 ways for an incoming message to automatically
end up in the Outlook Express Deleted Items folder:
- It matches one of the entries on your Blocked Senders list (Tools,
Message Rules, Blocked Senders List)
- It matches one of your Message Rules with an action of "Delete" or
"Move to Deleted Items folder" (Tools, Message Rules, Mail)
You might be inadvertently be blocking messages from Hotmail.
