Ever since I set up my new computer I have had to change the default
settings every time I log in after computer has been turned off. I have to go to - Tools| Accounts| Mail| Properties| Servers - and change the Incoming Mail (POP3) from the IP address "xx.xxx.xxx" to the "mail.xxxx.net" if I don't do it, I can't gain access to my emails. Also my "Account Name" needs to be changed from to "name" or I can't get my emails. The Outgoing Server does not change. I copied the setup from my old computer and looked it over several times for any inconsistencies but I can't find any differences. The password does not change, I have tired checking and unchecking every box and still no change. I tried deleting the account and setting up from scratch with no luck. I need help, I'm getting tired of going through this exercise. Thanks in advance, Dan O |

That's caused by having an antivirus or antispam application scanning
incoming email. Disable any such option, reset the server names to the appropriate names and be done with the problem. Any antivirus scanning of email is a waste of time since if you keep the AV program updated and ever attempt to open or save an infected file, you will be warned before being allowed to do so. And some antispam programs can cause you to lose stored messages (along with their antivirus compatriots) if you allow them to scan incoming mail. Your choice. -- Jim Pickering, MVP/Windows Mail applications Please reply ONLY to newsgroup. "Dan O" wrote in message ...
