Default not sure what I'm looking for............

I'm using OE 6 for my business, but I'm worried about it's future
capabilities, so looking for some comments as to what else I could use to
perhaps replace OE 6 or perhaps improve it.

My concerns are
1. Backing up, and having easy access to restoring. I used to copy and zip
the dbx files, but encountered problems with the zip files, so now copy and
store the files on another drive. Total files capacity now just over 2GB! I
would like to automate this, as its a manual process, though I have set up a
batch file to do the copy and saving. (takes about half an hour to back up)

2. Archiving records and being able to sort the records by email address's
or topics, plus getting easy access to them

I've tried the Mozilla email programme and that just wasn't suitable for my
needs. The main thing I hated was the sorting of emails by address.

I use about 10 email address's to send mail. I also receive email from the
same quantity of email address's. Incoming emails, I sort by using rules to
drop the messages in to various folders for actions, once actioned they get
re-filed in to another folder (incoming and sent emails).

I have well over 100 folders to sort the emails into, so some sort of colour
identification of folders would be a great help for speedy sorting.

Some of my folders have in excess of 4,000 emails. I'm reluctant to archive
them as I need quick easy access.

I make good use of the signature option with a dozen or so pre-scripted
pages for fast replies.

I have looked at some other programmes, but without buying them to try, its
a job to know if they are suitable or not.

Perhaps I'm expecting too much, but welcome some comments from the more
experienced.

Thanks in advance )

John

Outlook Express will not be upgraded with the exception of security issues
that pertain directly to it.

As a business user, you should be looking at using Outlook (a component of
Microsoft Office) which is much more robust, and programmable and not as
prone to the database storage problems that Outlook Express is. It also has
filters that work reasonably well. It is not free, but as a business user,
trusting your mail needs to Outlook Express is about as goofy as chewing on
a mouthful of razor blades.

Your choice.

Default B not sure what I'm looking for............

Unlike others, I see no problems with OE if one backs up on a consistent
basis. You can back up with a single button click to 3 orders of redundancy
with my OETool program coupled with OEQB, both of which are free. See
www.oehelp.com/OETool/

As for the rest, you might find OEX of some use: www.oehelp.com/OEX/

Also make sure you have the latest update, see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

In the future, there is Windows Vista, where the messages will be stored
individually as eml files, so they will be much easier to sort through and
organize.
