I have 2 Verizon email accounts. When I do a Reply (or Reply All or
Forward) in Outlook Express, the From: address will be either of the 2 accounts with no apparent pattern. The Reply Address in ToolsAccountsProperties is set to the default address for both accounts. I have Trend Micro Anti-Spam and Symantec anti-Virus email scanning but the behavior persists even if I uninstall/disable them. I have OE 6, IE7, Windows XP Pro SP2. As an example I received 2 emails from the same person a week apart. If I Reply to one, the From: address is the default; if I Reply to the other, the From: address is the non-default address. Any help to make the From: address consistent, predictable, and configurable would be appreciated. |

Usually with Reply, the From address that's used is the one the Sender addressed the email to. So, when someone uses Reply to send you a mail, when you click Reply in turn, it should put up the same addresss the mail was received at. Best is to ask the other end to delete the address you don't want them to use from their Address Book, and then make sure you only use the address you intend for the purpose. AFAIK there is no way to do it otherwise. Pop` |

A reply will use the account that the message was sent to regardless of
which one is set as the default account. You would have to use the drop-down arrow to change it. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "jrsyangl" wrote in message news:sbpch.246$ne3.5@trndny03... I have 2 Verizon email accounts. Well my problem is that is not what is happening. The reply seems to
pick arbitrarily an address to reply to. The example I gave was of 2 emails from the same person to the same account which, when replied to, used different From: addresses. Strange, but true. If the two accounts are actually aliases for the same mailbox on the server, OE will reply from whichever account downloaded the message, which may not be the account that it was addressed to. The first account to access the mail server will download all messages in that mailbox at the time. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Don't send mail. |

Outlook Express always uses the same account for replies and forwards
that downloaded the message. The default account is used for new messages. If the multiple accounts are aliases for the same server POP3 account (They have the same settings at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers for both Incoming POP3 server AND Incoming Account Name), then there is an easy fix for this. At Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties General, Uncheck the Include this account for All accounts Except the Default one. Then the default account will download all the mail and will therefore be used for replies. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "jrsyangl" wrote in message news:sbpch.246$ne3.5@trndny03...
