I recently set up a new computer and imported my address book from my desktop
to the new laptop. When the contacts showed up in the address book on the new laptop there were old contacts in the list that I have long since deleted on the destop OE address book. It is like when you delete a conatct in the address book it just doen't display until it is imported to a new machine then all the old conatcts show up again. How can I edit the content of my address book so only current conacts are in it? -- Norm Toronto, Canada |

On the old machine, do a search for *.wab and include Hidden Files and
Folders. You will probably see a few address books, one of which would be the current one. Copying that one to CD and deleting the rest should solve this. Now that it is already on the new machine, you can do the same search and delete old ABs. The one you are currently using will have to me manually edited though. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Norm" wrote in message ... Bruce there is only one .wab on my c drive and it is the one I did the import
from. The wab retain old e-mail addresses that have been deleted. All my friends have the same problem with these old conatcts staying buried in address book until it is imported somewhere via OE. Is there not a way to edit the wab for hidden entries? Thanks -- Norm Toronto, Canada "Bruce Hagen" wrote: On the old machine, do a search for *.wab and include Hidden Files and Folders. You're right. I have a backup of my AB in My Doc's and when I open it there
it shows the current addresses. But if I create a new identity and import the very same backup, there are old addresses included. We're both going to have to wait for an explanation on this one. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Norm" wrote in message ... The single folder under the Shared Contacts is current and if I Export |
Address Book (wab) to my HDD it looks exactly the same. But if I Import it from my HDD into another identity, long ago deleted addresses are included. -- ~Bruce "PA Bear" wrote in message ...
