I was trying to e-mail my internet provider anout a problem that is now
resolved. For some reason this e-mail turned into an automatic message that is now sent to everyone in my address book. How do I delete this and not send it anymore? I use outlook express as my default e-mail. |

How did you create it? Where does it reside? Is it stuck in the Outbox? Was
the Address Book contents included in your E-mail to your ISP? -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "jay the pest" wrote in message ... Re-trying to delete that automatic e-mail...
It's not in my addresses. I am not sure where it is. I know that the properties for my e-mail are good. Can my senders just block that e-mail address? I have one more question. How can I get my e-mail messages comming to my inbox instead of my deleted box? Is it possible to delete a message rule? I tried unchecking the message rule but it won't seem to work. For the first problem:
Do the following for the Outbox, and if the problem persists, repeat for Sent Items after you move any messages you wish to save to a local folder you create. Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View. With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {Outbox.dbx} and delete it. A new one will be created automatically when you open OE. General precautions for Outlook Express: Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}. For the second problem: You created a rule to send messages with your address to Deleted Items? Unchecking it should work. Did you check Blocked Senders to be sure you didn't accidentally add your address there? You can delete a rule this way: With OE closed, go to Start | Run and type in: regedit and navigate to this key: |--HKEY_CURRENT_USER |-----Identities |--------{GUID} |-----------Software |--------------Microsoft |-----------------Outlook Express |--------------------5.0 where GUID is the Global Unique IDentifier for your Identity, under that key you will find the following sub-keys, among others: |-----------------------Block Senders |-----------------------Rules |-----------------------Signatures Select the Rules Key and you will see the list of rules starting with 000, then 001, etc. In the right hand pane, locate the rule by looking at the action of the rule and delete the corresponding key. If it is the only rule, or if you want to delete them all, just delete the Rules key itself. Reboot and open OE and the rule should be gone. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "jay the pest" wrote in message ... Re-trying to delete that automatic e-mail... Do you mean that anyone who sends you an e-mail gets this automatic
reply? If so, that could be a Message Rule in Outlook Express (Tools, Message Rules, Mail) with an action of "Reply with Message". -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "jay the pest" wrote in message ...
