Default Can messages go missing in transit?

I don't know whether I am having some problems with receiving e-mails into OE. Twice recently I have been told that email confirmations are being sent, but they haven't arrived, when others have. The em address is right. I don't have a block sender restriction that is stopping them. I have gone onto Orange webmail 7 checked through there - no problems.

Can anybody help?

When I click to refresh I get the green scroll bar at the bottom, but nothing pops into the intray.

Help please!!!!!

If it only happened those two times, it may have been a sync glitch with your server and OE, but do the following.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

And backup often.

Default Can messages go missing in transit?

Hi,

I have the same problem. This started happening on Friday, 12/8/2006. No
new messages since that day. Also, I have posted and I am not able to view
my own posts.
One person from the Win ME newsgroup was helpful and alert enough to forward
to me Bruce Hagen's instructions.
I have followed Bruce's specific instructions to the letter but the problems
remain the same.
I'm posting this message so people could see it. As I stated before, I CAN
NOT view my own posts either.
Any help please reply via email. Thanks,
Ed Meza
