When i connect to the internet with my bluetooth dongle through my phone, i
am unable to connect through outlook express. I can access the internet using IE and download e-mail using Thunderbird. Is there any way to get express to recognise the active connection which is the bluetooth connection? Thanks Tim |

Look in Tools/Options/Connections on Outlook Express menu and make sure that
Internet Explorer and Outlook Express share identical setups. Then test if your Bluetooth setup works. That of course assumes you understand how to "pair" a Bluetooth connection and that your setup is correct for which you would get better help in a networking newsgroup rather than one for Outlook Express. Your question really relates to a problem with your networking connection. -- Jim Pickering, MVP/Windows Mail applications Please reply ONLY to newsgroup. "Tim" wrote in message ... Hello Jim.
Thanks for your response. Just an update: On my home computer i have Outlook express, IE 7 and PC Cillin (anti-virus), on my work computer i have Outlook express, IE 7 and Norton. I can cnnect to the internet using IE 7 on both machines. When i try to send/receive on my work computer - no problems. When i try send/recieve on my home computer, it doesn't recognise any connection other than a dial-up connectin irrespective of the settings in Outlook express or IE 7. I think the difference is the anti-virus. I will contact Trend and see if this makes sense to them. Just try uninstalling it and then see if that fixes it.

When an anti-virus program scans e-mail it typically presents itself to
OE as the mail server, then the anti-virus talks to the real mail server. So the anti-virus needs to be set to use any open Internet connection and not be tied to using the dial-up -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Tim" wrote in message ... Thank you for your responses. Michael you were right. The only connection
currently allowed is the dial-up one. Thanks.
