Default POP Server reverts to different IP address on its own.

You might try using Microsoft System Configuration Utility.

It is designed to help you trouble shoot problems.

You can start (reboot) your computer with all the Startup items turned off,
if your problem is resolved them it most likely is cause by one of them.

Example of MSCONFIG can be found here http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/

| Doesn't McAfee turn itself back on when you reboot? It used to.
That
| said,
| the two worst programs you can have that are associated with
Outlook
| Express
| are those made by Norton and McAfee.
|
| I use, and recommend, AVG Free:
| or:
|
| When prompted, choose Custom Installation and *uncheck* e-mail
| scanning
| when
| you see the option.
|
| Norton, and McAfee, products are not Outlook Express friendly, and
I
| don't
| know of any OE-MVP that would recommend using them.
|
| Other than that, it has to be caused by a program somewhere on
your
| machine
| that touches OE.

| This is usually caused by scanning e-mail, or an anti-spam

|
| Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a
| redundant

problems
| such

| time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V

I assume that when you turned McAfee off you replaced the 127.0.0.1 with the
correct server names.
Some program outside OE is responsible. If you are totally sure that McAfee
is turned off, It might be a security program blocking the Registry change
it needs to make. A few of the programs now doing this a
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot Tools IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 it actually has to be uninstalled. Make sure
the Windows Firewall is turned on until you reinstall Zone Alarm.

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking with Networking and try the change.

If it still does not work, totally uninstall McAfee, boot into Safe Mode and
try again. If the problem still exists we're going to have to reset some
Registry permissions.
