Default Odd DBX behaviour

Hi, each time I "compact" OE my recycle bin receives a heap of "BAK"
files.(59)
They are copies of the DBX files from the "main identity" (me)
I tested this by compacting four times, and finished up with 4 copies of all
the DBX files in the recycle bin, as BAK files.

The "feature" seems to have started after I had some difficulty downloading
one particular NG, and OE would stop responding. (gave up on that and OE
seems to be behaving)

OS is WinXP Home SP2 with all latest critical updates.
