I have tried to open Outlook Express on my father's computer from the desktop
and the program files, and from the start/run option, but all I hear is a 'ping' noise and nothing happens. OE is still listed in the program files, so why is it not opening? My dad is not very computer literate and he "thinks he might have pressed a button he didn't mean to" the last time he was in OE, but he can't remember what he did, and I can't think what it could have been. Any suggestions gratefully received |

Search for *.dbx files.
Include hidden files in the search. Move the files to a new folder. Try to open OE. If it works, open OE, File, Import, Messages, OE6, Message store directory, then browse to the new folder. -- Ronald Sommer "Chrissie" wrote in message ... :I have tried to open Outlook Express on my father's computer from the desktop : and the program files, and from the start/run option, but all I hear is a : 'ping' noise and nothing happens. Ron, I found the files, how do I move them to a new folder? Where do I set
up the folder to which they should be moved? Sorry to be obtuse but I have been staring at this screen for hours - I'm only given the option to 'send' the files to a different place - I don't know where to send them. Again, apologies, I am working on very basic, run down to Christmas, brain cells..... "Ron Sommer" wrote: Search for *.dbx files. Include hidden files in the search. Move the files to a new folder. Open My Documents, File, New, Folder.
Open the folder. In the Search results window, left click on the first dbx file, scroll to the last dbx file, hold down the Shift key, left click the last dbx file. Release the Shift key, hold a left click on the highlighted files and drag to the new folder. -- Ronald Sommer "Chrissie" wrote in message ... : Ron, I found the files, how do I move them to a new folder? Try deleting folders.dbx and see if OE will then start. See
