My OE is stuck on one email that it will not let me delete. this happened on
12/23 since then i have downloaded every fix it from Microsoft. I have all up to date anti virus and internet securities, even windows defender. when i mean stuck i mean i cant rec or send i cant touch anything on my OE it is drozen on that one email... I have been trying to fix this and im at my wits end. Help me please!!! Cinthia |

Is this message stuck in the Outbox? If so, follow the instructions below.
If it is in another folder, post back. See if it will delete while working offline. File | Work Offline & View | Layout: Uncheck the Preview Pane. If not: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. In Windows XP, 2K & 2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options | View. With OE closed, find the DBX file for the Outbox.dbx and delete it. A new, empty one will be created automatically when you open OE. Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupted. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm. - WinXP SP2 only: Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place. - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause corruption. Disable it. Or is this message stuck in the Inbox, still being downloaded from your server?
If so, it is probably a corrupt email that has got as far as the server. In this case you will need to connect direct to your server, using its Web email client if it supplies one or using TELNET to port 110, if it is a POP3 server, and issue raw POP3 commands, to delete the offending msg directly at the server. Hi all yes its stuck in my Inbox.. I have a pop3. But i cant touch anything
in the OE frame. not edit, tools file anything. It will let me minimize and close and that is it. Are you able to move other messages you want to keep out of the Inbox to

Hi Bruce Merry Xmas all and ty for trying to help me.
No i cant engage in anything at all. This is the only message dispalying in my inbox. It will let me minimize and delete and that is it. The cursosr stays as an hourglass if im anywhere in the Oe frame. I should also let you know this is win xp. Dell computer about 4 years old. First problem i have ever had.
