Default Outlook Express - problem receiving mail via SKY POP

Sky's own email service works but I wanted to use Outlook Express. Sky
told me the addresses to supply.

The SMTP works fine - no problem sending at all. But I can hardly ever
receive. Somehow managed it on December 28 - into my inbox came mail a
week or so old. Usually though, "Connecting" is followed by nothing
until the error message that connection has been terminated.

I've tried disabling anti virus and Firewall - no use. Any suggestions
will be very welcome. (Sky say they can't help because they don't
organize O.E.

Since it works at least occasionally, that sounds like the settings are
correct.

The full text of the error message would be helpful. That includes the
server name, server type, port number, socket error code, SSL, etc. For
best results, copy/paste the error message rather than retyping it. You
should be able to highlight the message text in the error window (hold
down the left mouse button while dragging the mouse over the text).
Then press Ctrl-C (hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the C key) to
copy the highlighted text to the Windows clipboard. You can then paste
that text into the problem description using the Ctrl-V key combination.

You may want to try recording a pop3.log which will show more details
about incoming mail.

To create an POP3.log In OE5+, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance,
Troubleshooting and check the Mail box.
You may need to close OE after doing the send/receive for the log to get
written to disk.
The log will be in the Store Folder which is listed in Tools, Options,
Maintenance, Store Folder.
