Default saving mail folders

Anyone know how I can transfer mail folders from my desktop to my laptop?

They are newsgroup folders that I have saved in an OE folder and contain approximately 1,000 messages. Since I have a new laptop and do not need to work off of my desktop ( I can now let the kids have at the desktop...) , I was wondering if this can be done? I got as far as compacting the folder(s), saving them to a CD rom ( I think), but then when I placed the CD rom in my laptop, I could not figure out what to do next. They were saved as a dbx. file.

Thanks to anyone who has advice and happy new year!

Newsgroups will neither import nor export. If you wish to save them, first
create a folder on your Desktop to contain the nws files. Then open Outlook
Express to the desired newsgroup and use Ctrl+A to select all the desired
messages and drag/drop them into the folder on your Desktop. Save that
folder to a CD and copy it to your new installation.

Mail folders (DBX files) can be imported if you save the folders.dbx file in
addition to whatever local mail folder you wish to save (i.e., Inbox, Sent
Items, Drafts, etc.). But again, they must be copied from a CD to a local
folder, and additionally have the Read-Only attribute cleared which is set
when any file is copied to a CD.
