However make sure that (*each time*) your "USB thumb drive" is *plugged in* (and *working*) *before* you try to access is with OE. If you forget to do it, OE will create a new 'empty' message store on the hard drive, and you will have import everything from the USB thumb drive. That is cumbersome and somewhat risky, so it's better to prevent it. Same story for unplugging: *First* stop OE, or at least stop using the special identity, and only *then* unplug the USB thumb drive. For the nitty gritties, see the recent (Dec 28) thread "How Can I get OE onto an External Drive ?"). That was about an USB hard disk, but the issue is the same, that the 'drive' is removable/unpluggable. |

It's not clear whether or not you are aware of and using this, so I might as well mention it: Tools - Accounts... - Mail - click on relevant account(s) - Properties - Advanced - tick "Leave a copy of messages on server" and tick "Remove from server after ... day(s)". |

I have "Remove from server after ... day(s)" set for 100 days, which is probably maximum number provided by Outlook Express or the server. e-Mails older than 100 days are automatically deleted from server. So far I was advised to mail myself each individual e-mails, so that it ends up in the server, and stay for 100 days, or up to my space limit, which ever comes first. Thank you so much.. |

Just tick: Leave copy on server, don't specify any limit, it'll stay there for ever, or untill your ISP gets fed up with you. |
