Hello:
I receive e-mail via my comcast account, but I am having difficulty sending. I thought I saw this in here before, but cannot locate it again. Thanks for your help...here is the error message: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E I have double checked my settings and they appear to be fine -- Stephen A. The port number for sending mail with Comcast should be 25 and not 587.
Make sure that you do not have *ANY* antispam or antivirus program set to scan email and reset the port under Tools/Accounts - Mail tab for the Comcast account. -- Jim Pickering, MVP/Windows Mail applications Please reply ONLY to newsgroup. Comcast does support port 587 for SMTP. But also requires SMTP
authentication. http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/inde...k_Express18534 -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Jim Pickering" jimp (AT) mvps.org wrote in message ... Strange, in that I've used port 25 since the inception of my cable service,
when it originally was with the @Home service, before becoming Comcast. I see the info on their website, but have never had a problem using port 25 with them although SMTP authentication has been required for the past few years. I would still suspect the problem to be an antivirus/antispam program set to scan outgoing mail, but we'll have to wait for the poster to reply. Thanks, Mike. Hope to see you this March. -- Jim Pickering, MVP/Windows Mail applications Please reply ONLY to newsgroup. "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ... Comcast does support port 587 for SMTP.
