message ... Outlook Express (6) does not start at all. I only see the eggtimer for 10 seconds and then nothing happens. No error msg. I select it via Start – Outlook Express or Start – All Programs – Outlook Express or Win Explorer, - C:\Program Files - MSIMN.EXE. I checked in Add Programs – Windows components – “OE” is ticked. In Outlook Express I often got messages like “Outlook Express: An unknown error has occurred. Details: Configuration: Account: Hotmail Server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp User name: Protocol: HTTPMail Port: 0 Secure(SSL): 0 Code: 800c013e” Would this indicate some corruption? Yesterday some long Windows Update ran. I cannot remember if I was able to open OE before the Update. So maybe the update of whatever programs caused this problem. Additionally some long upgrade for Adobe Reader 7.0 ran. 2 weeks ago I installed IE7 and afterwards I noticed Outlook 2003 appeared in the START bar. Maybe it was on the computer before but I never realised. I tried it today and can see mails on Outlook 2003. Would I better be using Outlook 2003 now? I still would like to solve the mystery around OE6, though. I have WinXP 2nd version, Trend Micro, PC-cillin Internet security 2005. Any ideas? Regards Blackredgold1964 From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/defaultl.htm Go to Start | Run and type this command, with the double quotes and spaces: "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg and then make sure that OE is selected as the default mail program in both IE and OE. If that isn't enough, see this article: "Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098 You might also want to try this: Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/oe_client.htm -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Thanks to all, the command "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg
already fixed the problem for me , but I will keep the other fixes on file for future reference.
