Default IEXPLORE.EXE Application Error

I often receive emails containing links to web pages. I can click on the
link and open the web page. However, after I close the window that the web
page opened up in, I get the following error messages:

IEXPLORE.EXE - Application Error
The exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occurred in the
application at location 0x7c812a5b.

I click on "ok" and then this one pops up:

Error:
Runtime error 217 at 024CFB4A.

This did not start happening until after I upgraded to Explorer 7. What do
these error messages mean and what should I do? Any help will be greatly
appreciated!
