Default How can I repair my sent items folder?

Bruce,

I had previously read and performed the steps you have pointed out, from
other replies you had posted to other people. It did not work. I did,
however, do it again and rebooted my computer. Still doesn't give me back my
sent items data. I realize that I can delete the sent items.dbx file and a
new one will be created and that the program will once again function
normally. But I would like to be able to recover the data contained in the
corrupted sent items.dbx file if possible.

Thanks again.

Start here and post back if it still does not work. Reboot when you're done.

Compact your folders:

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become
corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your
mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created
folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while
working *offline* and do it often.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and
leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

And backup often.

Hi,

I've got a problem where I click on my sent items folder and I see a
message
displayed where the items should be stating: Folder could not be
displayed.
Outlook Express could not open this folder. Possible causes a Low disk
space. Low memory. I have lots of disk space and memory available. I
defragmented my drive as well. I have even run the sfc /scannow command to
no
avail.

I can receive email but if I try to send an email I get the following
error:
An unknown error has occurred. Protocol: SMTP, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800C013B

I have looked in the knowledgebase and cannot find anything that helps. I
did find info about the error message when sending but I have no shares
active and my sent items folder is not stored on a LAN. It is on my local
drive. I am using a direct connect to the internet.

I have also searched the discussion forums and I can see that if I
rename/delete the sent items.dbx file that new one will be created but
that
does not give me back my sent items which is what I am hoping to get back.
I
have gone offline and compacted my folders but still no luck.

Can someone please tell me if I can in fact get my original sent items
folder back. Is there a utility that is available to help retrieve a
corrupt
folder? Thanks.
