I am trying to help a friend who spent a lot of time entering lots of e-mail
addresses into her Verizon web-based e-mail program. She wants to move to Outlook Express and would like to migrate the address book. Verizon (unfortunately not surprisingly) does not provide a build-in export facility. Does anyone know of a 3rd party program that might do the migration or any procedure for doing that? Many thanks -- Sam |

Hi Sam,
At the very least get a copy of all the addresses from a new message. Do not send this message! Someone may be able to provide an easier method (for Verizon) than that described below. There a somewhat laborious workaround that involves creating a comma-separated values (.csv) file. This may be unacceptable in your case, but it can be useful when it's not possible to export entries from a Web-based address book. First add all the addresses on the To: line of a new message. 1. Highlight and (right-click) copy all the addresses. 2. Paste the entries into a new Notepad document. 3. Edit the entries in the following format: Raw Paste Tim Kauppila aka Kuay Tim kuaytim(at)myxisp.net Edited Copy (Note: Name=Display Name and can be added if not included) If no display name is used add a comma after the last name. Put each entry on its own line. Sample Comma-Separated Values File with Four Fields The second entry without using a "Name" field has two commas. (Note: Include the field description line) (Start) First Name,Last Name,Name,E-mail Address Tim,Kauppila, aka Kuay Tim,kuaytim(at)myxisp.net Tim,Kauppila,,kuaytim(at)myxisp.net (End) When ready to save the file add ".csv" no quotes to the name. Import as "other address book" -- comma-separated values.
