Default OE Missing Folders

25+ folders with critical emails have mysteriously disappeared from Outlook
Express. I did not move the folders. I have been using OE for more than 5
years and have never had this experience. Does anyone know how to recover
those folders?

Windows version?

In OE | Help | About, scroll down to msoe.dll and post the number listed
there.

Wee, you didn't post your OE version, the number for msoe.dll in Help |

View | Layout
Enable the Folder List.
If there is a + in front of Deleted Items, click it.
If the folders are there, drag them up to Local Folders.

If that isn't it, Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and
write down where OE is storing its data.
Close OE.
Open Windows Explorer.
If you have Win2K, WinXP or Win2K3 go to Tools | Folder Options | View and
set it to show hidden files and folders.
Go to OE's store folder. If the DBX files for the missing folder are there,
move them to an empty Windows folder. Use one of these tools to extract the
messages:
DBXtract ($5): http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/
DBXpress: ($25) http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx
The second is faster and has more capabilities.
Do NOT extract the messages to the desktop.
You can drag the messages from a Windows folder back to a folder in OE's
Folder List.

And if that still doesn't do it, buy DBXpress. It can still extract
messages from the hard drive, even though they've been deleted.
