My brother is running a computer with XP HE SP2, fully updated.
In OE6, despite being set to receive and send mail in HTML format, the messages are displayed in plain text; however, when clicking on 'reply', the messages then revert to HTML. Re-setting via OE's options makes no difference - it will not retain the setting, and pressing alt+shift+H, only works for the message which is displayed at the time. He had OE Quotefix installed, we uninstalled it to see if that was the cause, but to no avail - it's just the same. Is there a fix or tweak available, please? Thank you, Jean |

Do you have any of the following programs?
Ad-Aware's Ad-Watch Spybot Tea Timer SpywareBlaster SpySweeper Norton AntiVirus McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware Zone Alarm (Free or Professional) Any of these can program's options/settings may be responsible for not allowing the changes you made to stick. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Jean" wrote in message ... Bruce,
The only programs installed are Adaware Ad-Watch and Norton Security Suite. I neglected to say that we had to replace a faulty hard drive, and this is a 'clean' XP install, plus SP2 with all the latest updates. On the previous drive and installation of XP, these settings in OE worked fine in conjunction with the above programs. Thanks. Jean "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... Then as I posted, Ad-Aware's Ad-Watch may well be the culprit. It is up to
you to find out if it is or not. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Jean" wrote in message ... Bruce, The only programs installed are Adaware Ad-Watch and Norton Security Suite. I have a similar problem: I used to be able to read emails in html but
suddenly I can't. I have to click the show emails in plain text in order to read them. I haven't changed anything on my computer. I have an anti-virus and a firewall, but it's the same one as I have always had. The problem started when I switched identities. The one I switched to showed emails as blank, with an hour-glass that never loaded. Then when I switched back to the original identity, those emails were also blank. So I have to read them in plain text which I don't like. Any suggestions? A.V. "Bruce Hagen" wrote: Do you have any of the following programs? Go to Tools | Options | Send and uncheck the option to reply to the messages
in the format they were sent. Then the replies should be all in plain text, if plain text is your default settings under Tools | Options | Send | Mail steve "Jean" wrote in message ... Thanks, Steve, but he would like to read them in HTML as well as sending
