Default Rules

Another silly question -- I use rules extensively, have a large rules file.
I've noticed for some time now, that I get random emails that should go into
specific folders do not follow the rules, but end up in different folders.
There's no pattern to this, but I get one or two every day that end up in
the wrong folder. Most are established newsletters IE - there's no change in
the addressing of the mail. They just end up in the wrong folder.

Is there a way to back up the rules file yet?

thanks
howard

The rules are stored in the registry. If you backup the Identities key,
then you will also backup the rules. See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx

I suspect there might be a condition that some of the messages meet that
sends them to the wrong folders rather than a corruption of the rules, but
if you find they are corrupt then you can go to File | Identities and set up
a new Identity and then start over with the rules then.

Default Rules

Make sure Stop processing more rules is checked for /every/ rule unless it
is grayed out. Also, move the rules that divert mail to specific folders to
the top of the list of rules.
