Default Identity not found in Outlook Express

I have an HP Pavilion Desktop with HP_Administrator as one user and a
personal user account. I cannot open Outlook Express on my personal acct. I
get a blank screen on the Identity screen when I try to open Outlook. If I
type in Main, and click OK, I get

Identity switch canceled. The current identity could not be changed because
one of the applications was unable to switch. Close any open dialog boxes in
other applicatins before trying again.

But I have not other apps or folders open.

The OLEXP sounds like my problem, but I've never edited registry items before
so I'm not sure I should try it. I do have Outlook 6, but this sounds the
same as that shown for Outlook 5.

You're correct, in that fixes for OE5 are much the same in OE6 and it did
sound like it could fix your problem. You might want to find someone in
your area whose expertise with computers you trust and have them review the
article and help you with the edit (or you might find some close by computer
repair shop that will do it for a minimal charge). Good luck.
