Default OE backup files

can anyone tell me why the files Inbox, Deleted items, etc, are so very
large ?
C:\docs and settings\username\local settings\application data\identities\a
large number\microsoft\outlook express

I use a backup program to copy to my USB stick, and was wondering why this
took so long...
The deleted items is a file of 11 307 kb !?!?
And I tell OE to empty the deleted items box when I quit the program.

thanks for reading this

You need to compact the OE database after deleting messages from folders in
order to remove the wasted space. That should then reduce the size of the
folders.

Do a File | Folder | Compact all and see if that reduces the size.
