Default DSL company tells me my problem is MS

I have OE, XP Pro, all updates, etc. When Windstream Communications took
over our phone company, they told us to keep our email addresses, but we
needed to make them more complex to avoid spam. Thus, I did that...keeping
my original email address, and adding one of their's.

They helped me set up the Accounts properties in my OE6. To date, I have not
been able to bring in my original email ). They claim its a MS
problem. This isn't making me very happy, since they assured me I would
receive the original and their new @windstream.net emails, because the
former email address is on my business cards.

Does this sync with anyone??

Thank you.
