My PC had a crash the other day, losing many, but not all Outlook Express
files. I have recreated the folders that the files should have been in (many of the folders were missing), and have tried to retrieve the files from the back up, but the new folders do not appear in the list of folders available from back up, when I use the Import message tool. When I look at the files in the backup folder they are all there, as .dbx files, but I cannot seem to open them, or place them anywhere that they can be used. Help. DaveG38 |

What backup program did you use?
If the dbx files still exist, you can do a manual import of each folder. In Windows Explorer, click on the dbx file for the missing folder and drag it to the Desktop. Open OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on your desktop. Open the new folder and then close OE. Go back to Windows Explorer and Click Desktop and drag the file from the Desktop to the OE store folder that you clicked on to reveal the .dbx files. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."? Click Yes. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "DaveG38" wrote in message ... My PC had a crash the other day, losing many, but not all Outlook Express files. See here for message recovery techniques: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4 If
you are importing, make sure the files are not read only and are in a directory on a hard drive. You may be able to manually import the dbx files also. steve "DaveG38" wrote in message ...
