Default How to convert IE6 again into my default browser??

Hello everybody,

Out of curiosity (!) I installed Firefox, and then all my shortcuts icon
on the desktop have been automatically converted to Firefox.

But now I don't know how to make again IE my default browser!!

And of course I already checked in various forums and they all tell
you to proceed "very simply" (!) as follows:
1) IE Tolls Internet Options Programs check (green tick)
"IE should check to see whether it is the default browser".
2) At Fireox, uncheck above.

But even by rebooting my PC, Firefox is still starting whenever
I click at an icon (shortcut) on my desktop and also each one
of those icons is still displaying its Firefox logo...

So any assistance would be now appreciated; thanks in advance!

With very best regards,
Philippe

PS:
And when I start IE, I do NOT get the box saying "Internet Explorer is
no longer your default browser, would you like to make it your default?"
