I have followed the procedures in the knowledge base for importing dbx files
into Outlook 6.0. These files were created on Outlook 6 on a diffferent PC. However, I continue to get the message that Outlook cannot recognize the files. They are not "read only", and the Folders.dbx file has been recreated to ensure it's not corrupt. Any suggestions? -- William Likins |

Did you copy these messages to CD and then the CD to the new machine? Was
Folders.dbx included on the original copy? The dbx files were transferred from one PC to another over a LAN. I did not
copy the folders.dbx file over, as there would be two folders.dbx files, one for the "copy from" PC and one for the "copy to" PC. Does this mean the transfer is not possible? Also, if the folders.dbx file associated with messages was deleted, but the individual dbx files still exist, is there any way to retrieve them? Or is that done with the backup articles you sent to me? Thanks for your prompt reply, by the way. -- William Likins "Bruce Hagen" wrote: Did you copy these messages to CD and then the CD to the new machine? Was Folders.dbx included on the original copy? If you did not include Folders.dbx, the import will fail. Put the dbx files
you need to import on the Desktop and rename any if you have to so none have the same name as any folder you currently have in the working OE and then you can manually import each one as follows. Open OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on the Desktop. Open the new folder and then close OE. Go to Windows Explorer and locate the Message Store folder for your OE identity, but don't open it. Click on the Desktop and drag the file from the Desktop in the right hand pane to the OE store folder in the left pane. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."? Click Yes. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "William Likins" wrote in message ... The dbx files were transferred from one PC to another over a LAN.
