Default Webmail & Outlook Express issue!

Hi
When i start my pc up & recieve mail to Mailwasher, process it & then start
up OE mail programme & then click 'send/recieve', i get a 'connection to
server failed' & Error Number 0X800 CCCOE.

If i firstly go to webmail & delete all junk, then return to OE, i don't get
this!
I have deleted my default mail connection & recreated one for pop & smtp &
all is fine there, it's just this Error Number & predominantly this happens
when i first turn on pc & access mail from Mailwasher to OE.

Any help appreciated

What happens if you disable Mailwasher? It's not uncommon to see problems
with any spam program. OE doesn't like them.

I have a problem also I can receive e-mails but can't send any. If I try to
send an e-mail I get the same error as you. I uninstalled Norton Internet
security but still can't send. I have been online with Norton and my Internet
provider, but no answer as why.

Do you get an error message? Please post it.

Norton can continue to screw up OE even if you remove it from Add/Remove
Programs.

To remove Norton completely:

Commonly used Symantec tools:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05103109480139

Using the Norton Removal Tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039

Removing NAV 2003 and earlier using Rnav2003.exe.
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01092114452606

Symantec NIS, NAV and NSW 2004, 2005, 2006 removal
http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm

Symantec NIS, Norton Antispam, and NPF 2004, 2005, 2006 removal
http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem1.htm

And if necessary:
http://www.ccleaner.com/

I suggest AVG Free:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
or:
http://www.grisoft.com/doc/40/lng/ww

When prompted, choose Custom Installation and *uncheck* e-mail scanning when
you see the option.

Norton, and McAfee, products are not Outlook Express friendly, and I don't
know of any OE-MVP that would recommend using them.
