Why does OE block jpeg files that I attach to an email but the recipient
receives the mail with the message"OE removed access to the following unsafe
attachments in your mail" but the picture has opened up in the body of the
message.

I get the same result when I look in my Sent folder.

Graphic attachments appear open after the text of a message. As for the OE
removed access message:

Tools | Options | Security. Uncheck: "Do not allow
attachments................."

Many thanks Bruce.

I guess that this means that the antivirus and/or firewall stop the nasties.

An up-to-date AV takes care of any problems, but you shouldn't open other
attachments if you are not sure of their origin, and even then, someone may
have passed on something containing a virus without knowing. Open graphics
like you see are not a problem.

If you are using XP/SP2, it is well advised to keep "Block Images........."
checked in Tools | Options | Security. This will help prevent SpyBots
spammers use in validating your address.
