Default Can Outlook Express be uninstalled?

I thought I'd start a new thread since the first thread of 3/4 (Can email
messages be saved to CD) is getting a little extensive.
Because of all of the problems I've had and am having I've reached a point
where no one seems to be able to help me. My provider, Cox cable, is telling
me that the error message I'm getting, when trying to send messages, is not
their error messages and they don't know what they mean so I have to contact
Microsoft. I can't afford to get help from Microsoft since we live on Social
Security disability due to my husband's cancer. I have to try to take care of
these problems and fix them myself. Since my provider can't help and I'm
still not able to use Outlook Express I'm asking if it can be or should be
uninstalled and reinstalled and if so how is that done? I've gotten
everything to work with 2 of the 3 identities, most of the time, except to
being able to receive my messages. I have approximately 100 messages that I
was reading through webmail but I can't get them to download into Outlook
Express. I even tried to use Outlook but I don't know how to use that it
doesn't seem as though you can have more then one identity in it. I don't
know if that would download my messages either. I'm at a loss and am stuck as
to what to do.
I've been getting help in this newsgroup and appreciate it but now I need
more help. Please advise.

Can you tell us the error message that you are getting. Most likely someone will be able to help you.Do you have a Anti Virus program set up with your email account?Make sure that any Anti Virus email scanning is disabled and try after. Again please post the exact error here that you receive when not getting your email.

Now it's not giving me an error message. It's just saying that there are no
new messages but I know I have over 100 at the providers site that I'm
reading at the webmail page. Yesterday when I'd try to receive or send I
would get a message telling me that the provider did not accept the id or
password. I'm using AVG's free anti-virus but I did not install the email
scanner. Cox cable tells me it seems that there is something blocking the
incoming messages but I don't have a clue as to what it could be, if that is
truely the problem. Is there anything else you need to know that could be of
some help?

I sent a test message and it appeared in my 'webmail' but all I'm getting
when I send the messages is the little envelope at the bottom of the screen
saying there are no new messages. Although I can now switch between the
indentities and can send messages I can't receive them. So close and yet so
far.

Have you replaced /all/ 3 identities, now that you have AVG AV installed
without Email Scanning?

If so, have you tried closing OE and deleteing POP3uidl.dbx from each
identity? (NB: Doing so will cause all messages currently on the server to
download into OE again, so be prepared to deal with dupes of messages you've
already received.)

If still no joy, there may be one or more "problem" messages in the queue
that are causing the problem. If you can identify them at the webmail page,
Delete them there.

No I have not tried that. Didn't know anything about that file. I just tried
to receive my messages for one of the other identities and got this error
message. [There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password
was rejected. Account: 'pop.east.cox.net', Server: 'pop.east.cox.net',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port:
110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92] The
box keeps popping up that requires the user ID and the password. The password
has been reset several times by my provider but nothing seems to work. That's
when they told me I had to contact Microsoft for additional help.
I hate to say this but I'm going to have to pick up on this in a couple of
days. I was hoping I could resolve this problem before I left town but no
such luck. I will continue these post upon my return. All of the suggestions
and help are greatly apprecaited. I will try the suggestion of deleting that
file and yes I did set up all three new identities after I had reinstalled
AVG without the email scanner.
Thanks to everyone.

Default Can Outlook Express be uninstalled?

NB: Before deleting POP3uidl.dbx, see if
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290684 is of any help.

Tools Options Maintenance Store folder will reveal the location of
your current Identity's store
(http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). Write it down.

In WinXP, Win2K and Win2K03, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show
Hidden Files and Folders under Start Control Panel Folder Options
View.

*Close OE*! In Windows Explorer, navigate to your store, find and delete
POP3uidl.dbx. Again, be prepared for dupes: If messages remain on the
server (i.e.,in your inbox at the webmail page), you might want to delete
them or move them to another webmail folder (if available) before deleting
POP3uidl.dbx.

I thought I'd start a new thread since the first thread of 3/4 (Can
email
messages be saved to CD) is getting a little extensive.
Because of all of the problems I've had and am having I've reached a
point
where no one seems to be able to help me. My provider, Cox cable, is
telling me that the error message I'm getting, when trying to send
messages, is not their error messages and they don't know what they
mean
so I have to contact Microsoft. I can't afford to get help from
Microsoft
since we live on Social Security disability due to my husband's
cancer.
I
have to try to take care of these problems and fix them myself. Since
my
provider can't help and I'm still not able to use Outlook Express I'm
asking if it can be or should be uninstalled and reinstalled and if so
how is that done? I've gotten everything to work with 2 of the 3
identities, most of the time, except to being able to receive my
messages. I have approximately 100 messages that I was reading through
webmail but I can't get them to download into Outlook Express. I even
tried to use Outlook but I don't know how to use that it doesn't seem
as
though you can have more then one identity in it. I don't know if that
would download my messages either. I'm at a loss and am stuck as to
what
to do.
I've been getting help in this newsgroup and appreciate it but now I
need
more help. Please advise.

Default Can Outlook Express be uninstalled?

send a message to yourself and read it using Outlook Express instead of web mail.
reading it with web mail may mark it as read and could be the reason you are getting NO new mail.
