I have been having a problem with folders getting deleted without me
doing anyhting . Last wek a folder I had went AWOL and yesterday the same happened to another one . I found a couple of BAK files in my Recycle Bin and restored them . I can see some related BAK and DBX files for the "missing folders" in the C:\Documents and Settings\Stuart B.STUART\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{EA69B387-3E6F-4389-81EC-F386CC159F8D}\Microsoft\Outlook Express folder but the "missing" folders do not show in the list of "Local Folders" in OE on the LH side when it is open .? Any way I can sort this so I can retrieve the missing folders . Should there be one BAK file and one DBX file for each folder ? Stuart |

I am repeating it below in case anyone else has the same problem . thx to Bruce Hagen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1: Make sure you didn't switch to another identity. 2: Since you understand the Message Store, try this: In Windows Explorer, click on the file and drag it to the Desktop. Open OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on your desktop. ***Copy a message from any folder to the new one. You MUST do this.*** Close OE. Go back to Windows Explorer and Click Desktop and drag the file from the Desktop to the OE store folder that you clicked on to reveal the .dbx files. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."? Click Yes. What you may have been lacking in your attempts, was the *dummy* message that had to be in the newly created folder. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ |
