I was not able to open OE6 on my Windows 98 machine, I got an "illegal
operation" message that ponited to an invalid page fault in module Msoe.dll. I googled and found help at an MS page that suggested renaming Folders.dbx in the Outlook Express folder. To make a long story short, this worked. OE is open and functioning again. But my folder tree has been reduced to a single list of folders, instead of a tree with some folders under others, and also there are these ten or so folders called Search folders. Is it possible to get back my former Folder tree automatically, or do I have to re-create it manually? And can I safely delete all those Search folders? (There are e-mails in some of them, but they don't seem to contain anything.) Thanks. |

Folders.dbx controls your folder hierarchy. Deleting it brought all your
subfolders out in the open. All you have to do is grab each folder that should be a sub folder and drag it back to the folder it belongs under. A simple fix. For the Search Folders, they can be deleted in the folder tree as well as in the message store. Search Folders (.dbx) are remnants of using Edit | Find. You can safely delete them. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Larry" wrote in message ...
