I am subscribed to one NewsGroup which, as I keep as a standby, have NOT
ticked to "Include this account when checking for new messages". However, occasionally it does download new messages. Why does this happen please? Thanks. Bill Ridgeway |

Did you click on any of the newsgroups in the folder list? That will
also download messages. The "Include this account when checking for new messages" means to check the account when you click the Send and Receive button, use Tools, Send and Receive All, or Tools, Options, General, Check for new messages every xx minutes occurs or Send and Receive messages at start up. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Bill Ridgeway" wrote in message ... ... I am subscribed to one NewsGroup which, as I keep as a standby, have NOT ticked to "Include this account when checking for new messages". However, occasionally it does download new messages. Why does this happen please? If you enter the newsgroup while you are online the number of headers specified in the Get 300 headers at a time option (in Read tab) will be downloaded. To avoid that only enter that newsgroup while you are in a Working Offline state. Hint: it is very easy to be in the Working Online state inadvertently (e.g. in order to read something using your browser) so don't be surprised if you keep seeing downloaded headers occaasionally. ; ) BTW I think that this is off-topic for this newsgroup IE General. It would be more appropriate for OE General. HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- |
