Well, hopefully someone can help me with this one. I have a customer that
likes to print out every email that he both sends and receives. He does this so that he has both a hard copy backup and an electronic one. Makes sense so far? Okay, so a few days ago he goes to print an email that he wrote, and he doesn't get a header at the top of the email message like he is used to. So he tells me and I tell him this is because he was writing in plain text before and he somehow switched to html. He tells me he has done nothing different. Could one of the Microsoft updates have caused this problem to happen? Anyone know how to help me correct this so that he can print a header every time he prints an email, no matter who created it or in what format? Thanks to all who can give me some advise on this one. |

The email message header does not print when you try to print an email
message by using either Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 or Microsoft Outlook Express - also related to Shrink to Fit http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/931657 IE7 and "shrink to fit" problems - emails printing very small - hotfix released: http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks...18/689883.aspx Another workaround for header printing is to switch to Read all messages in Plain Text in Tools | Options | Read. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Rolling Rock 33" wrote in message news:PeXUh.2971$nU4.567@trnddc03... I searched Microsoft, and I was able to find the problem and the solution.
Now how the hell do I get the hotfix that I need? The page says to contact Microsoft the get the fix, but then what? I need the fix now, not when they feel it is convenient! http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/931657 |

So you did a search and came up with the same solution I gave you five days
ago. I don't know if they are available 24/7, but if you clicked on the support link, it tells you how to contact them, including by phone. There is no charge for this Hotfix and as long as they are answering the phones, you can get it. You don't have to wait until *when they feel it is convenient!*. From the link I posted: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/931657 To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to obtain the Hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support AFAIK, contact the phone number listed here. Once you tell them the problem is the Hotfix you have to call for, they will wave the support fee. I didn't mean anything negative toward you. I was just commenting strongly
about how to go about getting a hotfix. Before, once you were able to diagnose the problem, then you could just get the hotfix you needed, right then and there. It just seems like it is counterproductive to have to contact them first, then wait to get your response. Especially if it is a major problem and your system is down, then who wants to wait? Sorry if i upset you, that was not my intention. I am very grateful for your help. |

You didn't upset me. Your problem affects a relative small percentage of
users. The Hotfix is a fix that is not 100% proven. Once it is, it will be available through WU/MU. Until then, MS only wants users that are truly affected and hardshipped by this problem to get the hotfix in the manner suggested. They don't want to release something to the general user that is not refined. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Rolling Rock 33" wrote in message news:2jRWh.4821$_u2.4728@trnddc04...
