Well I have tried all of your suggestions and it has not helped me at all. I
do appreciate the effort and want to thank everyone for their efforts. I guess I was just not suppose to see the attachments. Thanks Again Herb -- Later Gator Herb (Chip) & Roxanne |

Are you still at the point that when you try to open an EML attachment,
it opens in Notepad? Right click the short cut that you use to open Outlook Express., and select Properties. Does the Target line contain: "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" or something else? -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Chip and Roxanne" wrote in message ... Well mike bad news that is what it says "C:\Program Files\Outlook
Express\msimn.exe". I also received two more messages from the same person today and the attachments went to note pad again when I tried to open them and looked like encrypted stuff. It is being sent in the mims format and version1 I figured that much out but that is all I can figure out. This is the only person I have trouble with and it is really bothering me but I don't no of anything else to try as you guys have about run the gauntlet trying to help me. If you would like, you may send me one of the problem messages and I'll
take a look at it. It's best if you zip the message so that I get an exact copy of it. To do that, do a File, Save As to an EML file of a problem message. Then Right click the saved EML file and select Send To, Compressed (zipped) folder. Then e-mail me the resulting ZIP file. Alternately, you can do a Message, Forward As Attachment of a problem message. This is not as good as the zip file since the headers can be modified in transit which may obscure the problem. A simple Forward is worthless since it does not include the headers. That way I can verify that it is actually an EML attachment and not something wrong with the message. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Chip and Roxanne" wrote in message ... I received the sample message from the original poster. And for the
benefit of others following this thread, this is what I found and replied back to the poster. This is a complicated message because it's been forwarded multiple times through various somewhat incompatible e-mail systems. The original sender used MS Exchange to send it to an AOL user who forwarded it to a Hotmail user who forwarded it to you. In the message, as you received it, is a MESSAGE5.TXT attachment. 1) You need to save that attachment (e.g. File, Save Attachments) 2) You then need to rename the MESSAGE5.TXT to an EML file (e.g. MESSAGE5.EML) 3) You then need to open the MESSAGE5.EML file by double clicking it. It should open in an Outlook Express message reading window (This is the message as received by the Hotmail user) 4) In the message opened in step 3 you should see an attachment named "Gotta See This ..." with an envelope icon in front of it. Double click that to open and it should open in an Outlook Express message reading window. (This is the message as received by the AOL user) 5) In the message that opened in step 4 you should see an attachment named "Landon_Rulesfran.wmv". That's a Windows Media Player video. Double clicking that should open in Windows Media Player (or other suitable video player.) If in steps 3 and 4, the EML files don't open in an Outlook Express message reading window, then we still need to fix your EML file association. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ...
