Default OE freezes

Suddenly 2 days ago OE and my XPPro SP2 HP notebook stopped dead - all power
off. I restarted it and have not been able to restart OE - the startup box
appears and that's it. The CPU goes to 100% and stays there until I use Task
Manager to kill it. Outlook works fine, IE 7.0 works fine and I have tried
everything possible including uninstall/reinstall, Registry cleaners, going
back to a previous checkpoint 1,2 and 3 months back - to no avail. I really
need to get it back working as I have all my important e-mail (business and
personal) in OE folders.

Please help!!

Default OE freezes

Start he http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#crash

General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown
your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.
