Hello,
When posting to newsgroups (either a new post or a reply), usually OE6 sends the message immediately. (In fact, I have the "Send messages immediately" checkbox active in Tools - Options - Send.) However, occasionally (as tonight), OE6 parks the post in the Outbox until I go to Message - Send All (or Sync All) and send the message "manually." After I close OE6, disconnect, and reboot, reconnect, and reopen OE6, it goes back to posting "immediately." I think this started happening when I upgraded to IE7 last year. It doesn't happen that often, and it's a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless. Any tips? Thanks, D |

This same question was posted in another, (private) newsgroup early this
morning. Did this just start for you? While the other poster has not responded to any of the replies as yet, this may be a new bug of some sort. While I don't have an answer, and doubt anyone does as yet, please supply the following info, so we can research this problem. Did this just start? MSNews only, or all news servers? Does e-mail send immediately? When it doesn't send, have you checked the "Send messages immediately" option to see if it has become unchecked before you rebooted? What third party e-mail programs do you use such as AV, Spam, and anything else that /touches/ OE? You are using Yahoo? The other poster is using Earthlink, so I doubt that is the cause. Anything you can think of, please reply with. I have a feeling that this is not the last post we will see about this. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Debris" wrote in message ink.net... Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try one or more of your accounts in a new Named Identity (File Identities Add new identity). Assuming all is well, (1) compact all folders in the old identity, (2) import messages from the old identity into the new one, and then (3) delete the old one (File Identities Manage Identities). To avoid such corruption in futu - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm - WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is automatically compacting your message store. - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org Debris wrote: Hello, When posting to newsgroups (either a new post or a reply), usually OE6 sends the message immediately. MY APOLOGIES for not responding sooner!
Using Earthlink news server (specifically, news.west.earthlink.net). Using dial-up. Use Outlook 2003, not Express, for email. No issues. Checked the "send messages immediately" box and it's always been checked, to the best of my knowledge. Using Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0. Changed this about the same time I upgraded to IE7. My normal "workflow" is to connect through IE, start OE6, check newsgroups, close OE6, surf using IE and close the connection when I'm done with IE. With IE7, OE6 now prompts me to "Disconnect Now" when closing OE6 even when IE7 is still open. It never did that with IE6. Hope this makes sense. D "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ...
