My antivirus to my knoledge does not do email scanning at all. I use
windows xpsp2. Is there a way to reinstall outlook express with out
reinstalling xpsp2? I no that sounds drastic but I'm pulling out my hair
here. Thanks.

AVG free for antivirus. no spam checker. my ISP does that for me, and add
aware free. That's all I run, besides spybot, sometimes. Thanks.

Did you install AVG in Custom Mode originally, or disable e-mail scanning
after the install?

Reinstall AVG and choose Custom Mode. Uncheck E-mail Scanning when you see
that option. For some reason, just unchecking it in the security center
causes a conflict with the Windows Security Center.

Make sure you reboot when you're done.

Think about any other programs you might have. I use a mail alert program
that notifies even for newsgroups as it reads dbx file size increases to
activate the notification. I have to compact before turning this program on
as it will cause it to stall on the Folders File.

I still don't understand why it wont let you drag the prompt out of the way
to see what folder it is getting stuck on. If it was me, I would go ahead
and delete Folders.dbx with OE closed and see if that fixes it.

I cold del folders.dbx but the last timei did that the problem still arose.
Also I can't for some reason drag and drop folders to get them to the way
they were. Also the total size of the whole OE folder is about 512mb. I'm
trying to shrink this down.
Thanks.

If you close OE, reopen to the new identity and compact manually again, does
the behavior persist, Marrie?

If not: Did you (1) make sure that Sent Items and Deleted items were empty,
(2) close OE, (3) delete the file Folders.dbx from the original identity's
message store, (4) open OE, and (5) compact all folders before you imported
the messages into the new identity?

I compacted before importing the messages and after nd it worked, but now it

is going on.

Hello. I've followed these directions from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...orruption.mspx
and all seemed to go well but I got the following error message.
Outlook Express

The folder is currently in use by Outlook Express or by another
application.

OK Cancel

How can this be if I had teh folders list closed and hidden from view and
i was off line? Ive been trying to solve this problem for months without
success. Thanks.
