I have had this happen twice, OE 6.0 trying to download 3 emails but `timing
out` so cant get at my incoming email, the last time I did a reboot and that sorted it but not happening this time. What causes this? and is there a way to stop say those 3 from downloading to get my other emails? (I get about 20 a day) Last time I thought maybe a large file but not the case. thanks |

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 As far as /those/ 3 messages from downloading, a message rule may work, but you have to be more specific about where those 3 messages a coming from. If you are using Hotmail, then you need to create the rules on the Website, and not in OE. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "S S" wrote in message news ![]() I have had this happen twice, OE 6.0 trying to download 3 emails but `timing out` so cant get at my incoming email, the last time I did a reboot and that sorted it but not happening this time.
