when the send/receive function operates in my outlook express, it
synchronises with the newsgroups I subscribe to as well as to my email
accounts. I'm using windows xp to access newsgroups in outlook express 6.

For some reason it's now taken to updating the email accounts only. How can
I switch on the function to update the newsgroups as well please? thanks.

make sure for each news group under its right click there is a synchronization setting applied.

right click the toolbar
select customize
search the left list to find the 'sync all' button
add it to the right side
click the 'sync all' button instead of send/receive

If you have the newsgroup accounts set to Include this account when checking
for messages, they will be downloaded at the same time you have OE set to
check for messages.

I have mine set for 10 minutes and get new newsgroup messages, if they're
are any. I have never used any Sync options as I don't like them, but that
is my own opinion.

Thanks to all. When i add the 'Sync All' icon to the tool bar, and click
on it, I get a box that lists my email accounts and news accounts and then
it updates them all. (although it takes a long time to get going, sometimes
a minute ).

This box is exactly the same as the box that i had showing before, when i
clicked on the Send/Recv icon, which included email accounts and also
newsgroup acounts. But for some reason the news accounts disappeared from
that box.

Although strangely my newsgroups were still showing new messages coming in.
They were not showing as being refreshed when my automatic send /recv kicked
in every ten minutes.

Are newgroups normally included when a send/recv is in operation, like mine
were? I would certainly like to re-instate this fuction if possible, since
i like the update to kick in automatically. grateful for any further
advice, thanks.
