Can't seem to change the size of fonts when creating mail. Everything else
ok, italics underline, color, font type, and bold. But the size just goes
back to 12

Thank you, Al

Despite what the Applies To sections say, both KBs apply to OE6, Al.

Are you using a default Stationery in HTML messages?

Not using stationery: Not pressing enter, as soon as I start typing, font
size changes to 12 :-(

Open a new HTML message Format Apply Stationery click on "No
stationery" See if the behavior persists.

If no joy, open IE Tools Internet Options General Accessibility
Uncheck anything you find checked OK your way out See if the behavior
persists.

If still no joy, your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the
default Main Identity. Try creating a new HTML message using one or more of
your accounts in a new Named Identity (File Identities Add new
identity). Assuming the behavior no longer persists, (1) compact all
folders in the old identity, (2) import messages from the old identity into
the new one, and then (3) delete the old one (File Identities Manage
Identities).

To avoid such corruption in futu

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently
perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
automatically compacting your message store.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Hi Al,

Are you trying to use one of the supported font sizes?
8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 24 and 36

Is your new message a reply to a message that used Rich Text (HTML)
format?
