I am suddenly unable to delete messages in any folder or to move messages
from one folder to another. My wife does not have this problem with her account, it's only with mine. I think the problem started when I tried to clean out my "Sent" folder by deleting its contents. OE seemed to not do anything when I issued the command. Can anyone help me get back the ability to delete messages? Thanks in advance. -- Seamonster |

Start by compacting your folders.
Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. General precautions for Outlook Express: Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Thank you very much, Bruce. Compacting folders did the trick. I guess the
problem is that I'm letting too many messages accumulate in the folders. I appreciate the hints for using OE too. -- Seamonster "Bruce Hagen" wrote: Start by compacting your folders.
