Default Outlook express e-mail problems when using the internet

I have two problems- 1- when i'm on the internet and i come to a contact us
link it will not open my e-mail it says something about client default. I
have to cut and paste the link in out look and send the e-mail.

Now my new problem is When i'm searching the web and i come to a page i
would like to send to soem one by going to file/send/page to it dosen't do
anything.

I did touch my registry last week becasue i researched a little bit and it
said to change the mail client DLLpath to
drive:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSOE.DLL
Thats when problem number two started.

now the question is is it case sensitive? did i do it correctly?
What do i do now??? I believe i have outlook express 6.0 thats what it says
when i click on about outlook express in my e-mail.

Can anyone help me.
Thank you

For the first link, you should type, or better yet, copy and paste:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg

Into Start | Run. Nothing will come up, but that should reset OE as default.

Regarding the second link, File Types is in Windows Explorer, not the other
way around. (Don't confuse Windows Explorer with Internet Explorer).

Bruce- I figured out link number two and it was correct.
Can you tell me if the case (upper lower)matters when typing in information
(path)

Everything appears to be correct but it still isn't working.

Try re-registering these dlls:

Start | Run | type, or Copy/Paste, these in one at a time and try again.
(Note the space in each command).

regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll

In IE, go to: ToolsInternet OptionsPrograms. Click: Reset Web Settings -
(uncheck box for homepage) - Click Yes.

Default Outlook express e-mail problems when using the internet

Hi Amy,

Could you provide the path to the changed Registry key? This can be
copied by right-clicking on the 'open' folder. A copy of the key could
also be exported for text record of what's there.

One try to restore the default settings is to choose Outlook Express as
the mail client in Add/Remove Programs Control Panel | Set Program
Access and Defaults | expand Custom by clicking on it
