So in all my maintenance things, I was moving files to their own Yearly
Inbox. Somewhere in the renaming OE hiccuped and I lost 2006. But I could see the dbx file, which I copied. Now I try to make a new folder in OE, call it inbox_temp, and then when I quit OE, I rename the copied file to "inbox_temp.dbx" and the size is right, but OE always shows that folder. any app out there that will recover a DBX file? please? I HATE %^&*() microsoft when crap like this happens. |

In Windows Explorer, click on the dbx file for the missing folder and drag
it to the Desktop. Open OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on your desktop. Open the new folder and then close OE. Go back to Windows Explorer and Click Desktop and drag the file from the Desktop to the OE store folder that you clicked on to reveal the .dbx files. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."? Click Yes. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Daniel Kaplan" wrote in message ... So in all my maintenance things, I was moving files to their own Yearly Inbox. Windows version? What were you moving, to where, and how were you moving
it? General OE Caveats: - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm - WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is automatically compacting your message store. - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org Daniel Kaplan wrote: So in all my maintenance things, I was moving files to their own Yearly Inbox. Try Outlook Express Repair http://www.diskinternals.co.uk/outlo...ss-repair.html .. If the emails are there it will recover them to EML files and you can import them back into OE. |
